A great place that I would recommend to family friends.

We enjoyed our stay in Landstuhl. The apartment was very clean bright, and within walking distance to the castle, town, the train station so access to other cities in the area was very easy. Also very close to the ice cream shop, a walk that we made almost nightly! Ramstein Air Base is also in the vicinity so a great place to stay if you are visiting an airman.
Clean, cheery and great location

We were looking for a spot centrally situated for day-trips to Mainz, Alsace, Speyer and possibly even Trier. Landstuhl is an ideal spot and offers a certain charm of it's own. The apartment is quite nice, has wi-fi access and suited a father and four adult children well, each with their own bed. It's close to restaurants, pubs, bakeries, ice cream and a few clothing stores. The owner is in the same building if needed. The information on local services and attractions is in German but fairly easy to figure out though we would have liked information on a grocery store which we discovered was a short walk away after having taken a circuitous route with a taxi the day before. Otherwise, everything was exactly as we hoped and even a bit better.
Excellent! Central to everything in Landstuhl and great value.

We stayed in this apartment for one month with our 2 dogs. The apartment is very well equipped for everything you need to feel comfortable. Wi-fi worked very well. Good size for 2 people and 2 dogs for a month- can accommodate up to four people. Kitchen is very nice and we did a lot of cooking while there. The host is very responsive to needs and lives on the second floor so readily available. Location is central to everything and you can walk to anything that is needed and there is space for your car in secure area that is close behind garage at night. Felt very safe. Things to know are that it's three story climb to apartment and no washer and dryer but if you are associated with the base can do laundry there. We had a great stay and will recommend to anyone looking for a short or long term stay in Landstuhl.
Very comfortable, well situated and kind landlord.

We stayed at Apartment Knapp for 4 weeks and were very happy. We were moving to Germany and needed a longer stay while looking for housing. Apartment Knapp gave us a homey stay, room for the young kids to play and enough separation for the parents to relax at times. Traveling with the kids, we were very close to a playground, walking distance to a small store and restaurants. The trail to Burg Nanstein was less than a block away and a very nice hike up the hill among trees, stump sculptures and cool mushrooms to look at!
Grita was quiet as a mouse and offered our kids to come to her veterinary office to borrow toys. She changed the towels every weekend and offered new sheets every other weekend.
The only complaint I would have is with the state of the mattresses. I could feel the springs through the mattress and at times this made sleep difficult. However, overall it was a very comfortable stay. The blackout curtains on the skylights were heavenly and it was very quiet despite being on a "main" road. I had been concerned about the apartment smelling of smoke due to the willingness to allow smoking and pets, but it didn't smell at all. It was exceptionally clean! This apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator.
Evrything and more then I could imagine.

Perfect Place for Home Base in Germany

My brother and I visited my son who is stationed in Kaiserslaurtern. We debated a hotel, staying on base etc. Fortunately I found this apartment in Landstuhl which worked out perfectly. Not only was the rental fee reasonable the apartment was really nice, super clean, and provided more than enough space for two people. We had everything we needed including wifi..and everything was in walking distance of the apartment. The town of Landstuhl is quaint and this apartment is literally at the foothill of one of Germanys many castles. Our hostess Greta was very accommodating and sweet. We traveled to Paris and Amsterdam while visiting, so it was nice to have a home to leave our things in. I would highly recommend for families visiting anyone in the military as this location is easy to find, home to the US hospital and in close proximity to K town, all the bases. We had a lovely stay and met some wonderful people.
Many amenities and lots of space, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and more.

This apartment has almost everything you can think of, with very well equipped rooms, especially the kitchen, and is large by German standards. Price quite reasonable. The apartment is newly painted, well decorated, and quite clean and pleasant. Note that there is no washer/dryer, and no fans or air conditioning. We were there in summer, and it is on the top (third) level of a building that has a veterinary practice on the bottom floor and the owner/veterinarian lives on the second floor. We had to get some fans. The owner left us a note that we should not leave the fans running when not at home. The apartment can get quite hot in the summer and has windows that are on the slant because of the roof. If it rains, you have to close the windows. We were not there a lot because we were traveling, but if you leave the window open all you need to so is call the owner and she will close them. The owner changes the linen and towels regularly. She is very attentive to every detail. One thing I liked quite a lot was the high speed wireless internet. There is also TV (obviously few English stations) and a very nice living room with lots of beautiful plants. (We got a Slingbox for the American TV addicts to enjoy. It worked quite well - see www.slingbox.com). Of course there is only 240 V electricity so be prepared for that. The TV is small so we brought in a wide screen that we got at the Exchange and you could connect to a computer by HDMI, but we really were not at home watching TV a lot. The apartment setting is quite nice right next to the woods on one side and you get a cool breeze from there. On the street side the traffic is quite noisy, but not hard to get used to. Major plus for sure is the access to everything in town walking distance, especially some great restaurants like Maria's restaurant and Le Meracage within a few hundred meters. Landstuhl is a wonderful little town with lots to enjoy and a big ancient castle at the top of the hill - all within walking distance. If you work at the American Hospital, it is a 15 minute walk from the apartment up "cardiac hill" to the base entrance. Just make sure you are in good shape. Parking: courtyard with private parking, and a big automatic gate that you can shut at night so very secure. Customers' dogs leave their droppings in the courtyard and no one cleans it up so sometimes you end up cleaning it off your shoes. So, all considered you certainly do live like a German - just have to be ready to accept things that take a little getting used to for most Americans. One thing I didn't think of at first but bothered me later was fire safety. You are on the third floor with only one way out down a rather narrow staircase and no other egress. I also did not see any modern gadgets like smoke detectors or sprinklers. I would recommend that the owner invest in one of those escape ladders (it would be easy to get out a window to the roof) and smoke detectors. However, there was no fire so it is a moot point in retrospect. When you add it all up, it was a great value compared to other places available, and we loved being there.
